Exporturile de lămâi spre țările Uniunii Europene au fost oprite de către cultivatorii din Africa de Sud, cel de-al treilea mare furnizor mondial al acestor citrice, după Spania și Turcia.
În ciuda pagubelor însemnate, ei au luat această decizie după ce au descoperit o ciupercă care a infectat coaja unora dintre fructe.
Anunțul a fost făcut luni, de către Asociația cultivatorilor de lămâi din Africa de Sud, care a estimat că vânzările pe piața Uniunii Europene, care în mod normal este responsabilă pentru jumătate din exporturi, vor scădea cu până la 15% în acest an din cauza acțiunilor luate împotriva bolii citrus black spot (CBS).
Exporturile cultivatorilor de lămâi din Africa de Sud asigură 60.000 de locuri de muncă directe în timp ce în perioada de vârf a sezonului de cultivare și export, lunile mai-octombrie, 100.000 de oameni lucrează în acest sector, potrivit agerpres.ro.
În România, în unele magazine, lămâile se vând chiar și cu 19 lei pe kilogram.
